From the Artist: Hi. My name is Jon Magnusson. I'm a professional social worker and hobby musician. Originally from the punk-rock town of Fagersta, but since 2007 I live in Stockholm, the beautiful capital of Sweden.
The music I write and play is sometimes plain folk or sometimes more punk and everything in between. Still my ambitions aren’t that big. I just think it’s a hell lot of fun to write, play and record my songs and hopefully someone will like them as well.
Until this date I've written, played and produced almost all of my songs myself and getting help with mixing and mastering through the world wide web.
Some of my inspiration are: literature, The Clash, language, Leonard Cohen ,love, Håkan Hellström, social injustice, Ebba Grön, work, Broder Daniel, nature, Billy Bragg, friends, Mattias Alkberg, Jens Lekman, sports, Silvio Rodríguez, culture, The National, water, Paul Simon, music, Simon & Garfunkel.
I've just released a new EP with two songs in Swedish and one song in English and would be honoured if you would listen to them.
1. Dina Drömmar
A pop song with punk vibes and the lyrics in Swedish about fighting for your dignity and integrity.
2. Ode to a friend
As the title of the song suggest it's a tribute to a close friend that was taken away way to early in our 15's. By far the most sentimental song I ever wrote.
3. Partisanen
A cover of La Complainte du Partisan, an old song from the French resistance movement during World War II and made famous by the fantastic Leonard Cohen. The lyric is a free translation of the English lyrics by Cohen. Original text by Emmanuele d'Astier de la Vigeria and original music by Anna Marley in 1943.
