Though all 21 and under, Atlanta collective (the_unrecognized) brings depth to contemporary R&B with “My Thoughts” – a powerful song literally stemming from singer J. Elliott's musings on modern (particularly “urban”) society. It draws from the rarer, more soulful, actual-feeling-inspired vibe traditional to R&B… (that is, as compared to the more sexually charged, apathetic, somewhat egocentric style typical of today's R&B). Note: no shade there actually; we are all slaves to vanity to some extent. At any rate, if you have a knack for said “traditional” R&B acts, then here is your sonic, non-liquid cup of tea. Or, even if you're stuck on the rash, sometimes brash sound customary to Chris-and-Trey-led Generation Y-ers, then here is your stark-contrast cup of pure apple cider vinegar. (No worries, it's good for you!) Cue sly-faced emoji.
